Loaches are freshwater tropical fish that originate from Asia, in particular Pakistan and India. Generally loaches are hardy and make good aquarium inhabitants with medium to larger size tropical fish. Loaches do best in a tropical aquarium of at least 75L, kept at 25-27°C, with a pH of 6.5-7.5 and KH of 5. However, if slowly adjusted certain species can handle a higher pH. Loaches are generally not an aggressive variety of fish.
Fish that coexist with loaches in the aquarium include species of barb, larger rasboras, corys, and other community fish that thrive in a tropical environment. Loaches are omnivores and will accept most flake foods such as Sera Vipan and pellets such as Hikari Micro Wafers, but should also have some small foods such as frozen brine
