Goldfish are the most popular of all ornamental fish and are known for their attractive bright colours. Goldfish originate from temperate climates and in the wild they live in cool streams, lakes, and ponds throughout Asia and parts of Eastern Europe. Goldfish are social and intelligent animals and are regularly seen interacting with each other and their human caregivers whom they can learn to recognise. Goldfish have a lifespan averaging about 10-15 years, with some varieties living up to 30 years when provided with proper care.

Goldfish should be kept in an aquarium large enough to house a large fish, a general rule of thumb is 1 goldfish per 10 litres of water at minimum. Goldfish do best at between 21 and 26 degrees and do not usually require a heater in the coastal regions of Australia. PH should be maintained between 7.2 and 7.5. We recommend feeding goldfish with Sera Goldy Flakes, Sera Goldy Gran, or any of the Hikari range of Goldfish pellets with the occasional feeding of frozen brine shrimp.
